The mummies of Pyramid X are on the move--against you! How will you escape? Every Twisted Journeys(tm) graphic novel lets YOU control the action by choosing which path to follow. Which twists and turns will your journey take?

(This is the first Twisted Journeys book I wrote. To date I’ve done nine of them, but these are the only two available as of this writing.)

You are caught in a time machine! How will you escape the perils of the past and the frights of the future?

(Time Travel Trap was a blast to write. It contains my first-ever Neanderthal dialogue.)

(Amazon doesn’t have much to say about this one. You know the story, though.)

From one of China's most famous epics comes a righteous hero and god of war. Guan Yu, an ancient Chinese warrior, fights side by side with his blood brothers Liu Bei and Zhang Fei to squash the menacing Yellow Scarves. He defends his country and his honor, but his troubles are just beginning. All over China, opponents pose grave challenges, each one more trying than the next. Will Guan Yu prevail against the forces that threaten him? Or will the obstacles prove too much for even the brave warrior to handle?

(This is the same Guan Yu from the Dynasty Warriors video game series, for those who have played Dynasty Warriors. I hadn’t.)

Can two young boys outsmart and outwit the lords of death? The Hero Twins, Hunahpu and Xbalanque, were blessed by the Mayan gods with special powers. But their incredible skill at playing Pok-ta-Pok, the Mayan ball game, angers the lords of Xibalba, rulers of the land of the dead. When the lords challenge them to a Pok-ta-Pok game in Xibalba, the twins know they must use all of their powers and cunning to defeat the lords' many challenges. Will they survive the land of the dead?

(Hero Twins was a fantastic learning experience for me. Until getting this job, I knew zilch about Mayan mythology.)

Your spaceship needs a new part, and you’ll never get off this planet if you don’t make peace with the Makaknuk, the Zirifubi, and the Frongo! Every TWISTED JOURNEYS® graphic novel lets YOU control the action by choosing which path to follow. Which twists and turns will your journey take?

(Planet J was probably the easiest of this series for me. I hope to do a sequel at some point.)

From a life filled with heartache and hardship, comes an unmatched beauty destined for a fairy-tale ending: Pear Blossom, a young Korean girl, leads a happy life with her parents—until her mother dies and her father remarries. Her new wicked stepmother and stepsister make Pear Blossom the victim of their cruelty. They give her the nickname Pigling, or little pig, and do everything they can to torture her. But soon, magical creatures come to Pear Blossom’s aid—and one day, the girl meets a handsome magistrate. Will Pear Blossom’s luck change for the better? Or is she destined to suffer at her stepfamily’s hands forever?

(Seems as though the Cinderella archetype spans several cultures. Who knew?)
THE SMOKING MOUNTAIN

From the ancient legends of the Aztecs, comes the story of a love as enduring as a mountain: The Aztec Emperor has many children, but Princess Izta is dearest to his heart. The Emperor has enemies as well, but he also has brave warriors, and Popo is one of the best. Popo cares only about battle . . . until he meets Izta. To prove his worth he accepts a difficult task, but he promises Izta he will come back to her and watch over her—always. With jealous rivals plotting against him, will Popo find a way to keep his vow?

(Shades of Romeo & Juliet here. This book took a pretty serious, dramatic tone -- quite a departure from, say, Hero Twins.)http://www.amazon.com/Twisted-Journeys-Escape-Pyramid-X/dp/0822567792/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&s=books&qid=1209258530&sr=8-1http://www.amazon.com/Smoking-Mountain-Popocatepetl-Iztaccihuatl-Universe/dp/0822571781/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&s=books&qid=1217902251&sr=1-1shapeimage_2_link_0

Vampire hunters are creeping through an ancient castle with garlic, stakes, and holy water—hunting for you! Every TWISTED JOURNEYS® graphic novel lets YOU control the action by choosing which path to follow. Which twists and turns will your journey take?

(You know how easy it is to write a creepy book aimed at kids about hunting vampires in which the main character IS the vampire? Not very. Not for me, anyway. This one took a little longer than the others, but it still turned out really well.)
